Concerns Over Regional Natural Gas Ban

The Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce has expressed concerns over the upcoming “reach code” building electrification ordinances that will prohibit natural gas infrastructure in new buildings and alterations of existing buildings in the County of Santa Barbara, the City of Goleta, and the City of Carpinteria. The Chamber is worried about the advanced timeline ahead of state regulation and potential economic challenges in the region. The Chamber suggests that local jurisdictions would be better off focusing on how they can increase local energy resiliency and reliability.
