BOARD OF SUPERVISORS SUPPORT RESPONSIBLE CANNABIS FARMING

On May 24th the Chamber spoke in support of local cannabis projects at 3508 Via Real and 4701 Foothill Road, Carpinteria. The two projects were approved by the planning commission but faced appeals at the Board of Supervisors. Both projects have repeatedly shown themselves to be responsible farmers and thoughtful neighbors and community members. With these projects having repeatedly gone above and beyond to satisfy state and local standards, their impressive efforts to control cannabis odors and advance odor control technology, and County staff’s recommendation to deny the appeals, approval of the appeals would have set a bad precedent for the local cannabis industry. We thank the Board of Supervisors for unanimously denying the appeals, allowing the projects to move forward, and continuing to support responsible cannabis farming in Santa Barbara County.
