Find Your Sense of Purpose

Kelsea LaBarr embarked on a personal journey where she discovered her passion for the hospitality industry. Born and raised in Goleta, Kelsea’s path to finding her true calling has been as diverse as the various opportunities that have come her way.

After navigating through a series of different jobs in the post-COVID employment landscape, including working in retail and city parking, Kelsea found herself at the Ramada—a decision that would mark a turning point in her professional life. Drawn to the warm and friendly environment of the hotel, Kelsea quickly realized that hospitality was where she felt most at home.

Starting in June 2022 as a member of the front desk team, Kelsea’s natural affinity for people shone through, and her exceptional skills were soon recognized. Just a few months ago, she was promoted to the role of front desk supervisor, a testament to her dedication and proficiency in customer service.

In an industry that thrives on genuine connections, Kelsea’s ability to resonate with guests and colleagues is what makes her an extraordinary hospitality professional. Yet, it’s not just in professional triumphs that Kelsea’s story shines; it’s in the quiet moments of impact she creates. Take, for instance, the regular elderly guest who frequents the hotel. In the midst of having doctor appointments in town and managing life’s challenges, this elderly lady finds solace in Kelsea’s warm interactions. It’s in these moments that Kelsea’s commitment to creating a positive and memorable experience for each guest is truly energized.

She cherishes the camaraderie she has found at the Ramada, highlighting the genuine friendliness of her coworkers. In her words, “Our guests can tell we’re kind,” and it’s this authenticity that makes the hospitality industry so appealing to her.

As Kelsea reflects on her experiences, she emphasizes the joy she finds in making people feel comfortable, whether they are on vacation or facing challenging times. Her genuine concern for guests, exemplified by suggesting local dining spots or simply being a friendly face to talk to, reflects her dedication to ensuring that every visitor has a positive and memorable experience.

Working in the hospitality industry has provided Kelsea with a sense of fulfillment and limitless career potential, not found in previous industries. Her journey mirrors that of many young professionals in the Santa Barbara region who are searching for a meaningful career path, and her story is an inspiration to those navigating their own vocational quests.

In a world where the smallest interactions can have a profound impact, Kelsea has discovered not only a place to grow and excel, but also a space where she can genuinely enjoy her work. Her journey in the hospitality industry is as much about finding a sense of purpose and connection as it is about professional success.
