SB City Council Reviews State Street Master Plan 43026

Public Policy Update

On Tuesday, April 28, Councilmembers supported the draft State Street Master Plan. The proposal provides a vibrant vision for the downtown corridor over the next 20 to 30 years. The plan is rooted in community input, respect for the City’s heritage, support for businesses, and balancing the needs of pedestrians, bicyclists, and cars. The only significant change made by the Council was allowing private vehicle access from 10 PM to 10 AM.

The Chamber supports moving forward and is ready to partner with the City to bring this vision to life. As the plan is refined, we encourage continued focus on how the design can facilitate a sense of place and long-term economic vitality at the heart of the Santa Barbara community.

In the next few months, the City will allow for public review, conduct community outreach, and approve the plan in the Summer. Read our letter to the City Council. Watch coverage on KEYT.
