Santa Barbara County Declares Local Emergency

At the Board meeting of October 12, 2021, the County of Santa Barbara proclaimed a local emergency due to the Alisal Fire which has impacted Santa Barbara County with evacuation orders, closure of the 101 Freeway, and poor air quality. The proclamation was executed by the Santa Barbara County Executive Officer. To read press release, click here.
An evacuation shelter is currently located at Dos Pueblos High School, located at 7266 Alameda Avenue in Goleta. Animal Services can be reached at (805) 681-4332 for animal evacuation assistance.

Direct Relief Responds to Alisal Fire as air quality deteriorates
The organization is providing N95 masks and mobilizing respiratory medications, back-up power units for deployment in its hometown. Direct Relief staff delivered N95 masks and eye drops to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department staging at incident command, as well as the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department and Santa Barbara County Animal Services, which had requested supplies for ranchers returning to care for animals. To read more about Direct Relief, click here.
