Public Policy Committee Update

At last month’s Public Policy Committee meeting on September 22nd, the committee welcomed guest speakers Greg Gorga – Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum and Holly Lohuis – marine biologist and environmental educator. Holly gave a presentation on the importance to have the Santa Barbara Channel declared an international Whale Heritage Site. This effort brings together the Condor Express, SBMM, Jean Michel Cousteau and the Ocean Society, Sea Landing, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History on behalf of the Channel and all its residents. The second guest speaker was Oswaldo Martinez with Central Coast Community Energy. Central Coast Community Energy is now the primary electricity provider for the City of Carpinteria, Goleta and Unincorporated Southern Santa Barbara County (SCE Service Territory). CCCE is one of 24 Community Choice Energy agencies currently serving more than 10 million customers across California.
